Description |
: Actazid is a Carbonic Anhydrate Inhibitor
used in Glaucoma and Epilepsi, is inhibition of Hydrogen
Carbonate Reabsorption which results in prompt mild
alkaline diuresis. Other extra renal actions are lowering
of intraocular tensions due to decreased formation of
aqueous humor. (It is rich in HCO3) Raised level of
Carbon Dioxide in Brain and Acidosis helps raising seizure
threshold and Sedation. |

Indications |
: Epilepsy adjunct in treatment of Oedema
due to CHF. Open angle, secondary and acute angle closure
glaucoma. |
Dosage |
: For Epilepsy: 8 – 30mg/Kg body
not daily in divisible doses. For Glaucoma : 250mg to
1 gram daily |
